The Athletic Works of Papatheodorou-Valyraki
The birth of Ms. Papatheodorou-Valyraki's athletic works took place when a collector encouraged her to put her figures in motion. Having spent many years studying the human body, her athletes, in the words of Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich, President and CEO of the United States Sports Academy, are, "exuberant in the extreme pulse with life." Exploding with color, her images capture the emotional depth of the moment through her expressive, abstracted figures.

About the Medium

Giclee: Giclee is French for "sprayed ink." This is a sophisticated printmaking process, today it is typically produced on an IRIS ink-jet printer capable of producing millions of colors using continuous tone technology. Giclee should be printed on a fine fabric or an archival quality paper. Following the printing process, a final, thin transparent coating is applied for maximum permanence.
