Larsen series

Bruce Larsen is a native of Fairhope, Alabama. His sculptures, usually depicting animal subjects, are created from scrap materials such as driftwood, old, rusted appliances, pieces of metal and whatever else he can get his hands on. One man's trash truely becomes another man's treasure in the case of Bruce Larsen.

Well known and liked along the Gulf Coast, Bruce Larsen's "junk" sculptures are among the most recognizable pieces of art to have been shown in several noteworthy galleries such as Magazine Street Gallery in New Orleans, LA, and the Eastern Shore's Gulf ArtSpace and Summit galleries. Several of his commissioned pieces can also be seen throughout Mobile and the Eastern Shore.

Larsen is not only known for his unique sculptures, but he is also an accomplished special effects artist. His work can be seen in several Hollywood movies including, The Patriot, Black Knight, Planet of the Apes and Dumb and Dumberer. His most recent special effects piece came in early 2004 with National Geographic's "Sunset Limited Amtrak" train wreck.

Larsen's relationship with the United States Sports Academy began when he entered a piece in the National Olympic Art Competition in 2003. His most recent work, The Sprinter, will be permanently housed on the front drive of the United States Sports Academy's Daphne campus.
