USSA Partners with International Child Art Foundation

11 October 2004

USSA-ICAF The United States Sports Academy (USSA) has joined the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) as an Educational Partner to help encourage creativity in children ages 8-12. In this capacity, the Academy will do its part to promote ICAF's 3rd Arts Olympiad, which is a four-year art project designed to secure a peaceful future for our children.

The ICAF Arts Olympiad is the world's largest and most prestigious arts initiative for children. More than one million children participated in each of the previous two ICAF events. The third Arts Olympiad will link art and sport to bring art teachers together with physical education instructors, and artists with athletes, so that children realize they can accomplish anything, including becoming a leader or an "artist-athlete."

In conjunction with the Arts Olympiad, Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich, USSA President and CEO, is discussing plans to host local art shows at the Academy in the early months of 2005 once renovations are completed at the American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA). A division of the Academy, ASAMA features the largest collection of sport art in the world and currently has more than 1,000 registered pieces in all mediums. Recognized as a national museum, ASAMA is dedicated to the preservation of sports history, art and literature.
